Last updated: September 18, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Let’s Talk Alberta website and related website functionality. Let’s Talk Alberta (“LTA”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is seeking status as a non-profit society. By accessing or using the website, you accept these Terms to the extent they are enforceable under applicable law. If you do not agree with these Terms, discontinue use of the website.

Website Purpose

The website provides general informational, educational, civic, organizational, event and community-related information. Website content does not constitute a guarantee, representation or promise regarding any particular result or outcome. Using the website, joining a mailing list, submitting a form, expressing interest in volunteering or participating in an event does not by itself create an employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, fiduciary, representative or similar relationship with LTA. A separate transaction or written agreement may be subject to its own terms.

Civic and Public Discussion Disclaimer

LTA may facilitate conversations involving civic, political, constitutional, economic, public-policy, community and other matters. Views expressed by speakers, participants, contributors, guests, organizations or other third parties are their own unless expressly identified as LTA’s. Presenting a viewpoint, inviting or featuring a speaker, or linking to an organization or resource does not necessarily constitute endorsement by LTA.

LTA does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of statements made by independent speakers, participants, contributors or third parties. Users remain responsible for evaluating information and forming their own conclusions.

Permitted Use

You may use publicly available website content for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes. You must not use the website unlawfully; seek unauthorized access; bypass or attempt to bypass security measures; introduce malicious code; make fraudulent submissions; impersonate another person or organization; misuse website functionality; interfere with associated systems; or engage in activity intended to damage, disrupt, overload or compromise the website or associated systems.

User Responsibility

Subject to applicable law, you are responsible for information you voluntarily submit, for ensuring that it is reasonably accurate, for complying with applicable laws, and for decisions you make based on website information. You are also responsible for your interactions with third-party services and for taking reasonable precautions to safeguard your devices and accounts.

User Submissions and Conduct

If you submit a form, message, inquiry, application, volunteer information or other material, you must have the right to submit it. You must not knowingly submit material that is unlawful, fraudulent, malicious, defamatory, infringing or intentionally harmful. Where appropriate and permitted by law, LTA may restrict or remove content or access that violates these Terms. LTA is not obligated to monitor, moderate, investigate, preserve, publish or remove every submission.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, original LTA website content, branding, written materials, graphics and other original materials are owned by LTA or used with permission and may be protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party trademarks, photographs, videos, speaker materials, articles and other externally sourced materials remain the property of their respective owners.

You may view public pages for personal use and share links to them. Except where permitted by law or authorized by the applicable rights holder, you may not reproduce, commercially exploit, modify or distribute protected LTA materials.

Events

Event information may change. LTA does not guarantee event dates, locations, speakers, schedules, programs, formats, attendance, capacity, ticket availability or continuation. Events, speakers, schedules, venues, formats and related details may be modified, postponed, substituted or cancelled where circumstances require.

Registrations and tickets may be offered through third parties. Purchasing, cancellation, transfer and refund terms, if any, may be governed by the terms presented during the relevant transaction. These Terms do not create an LTA refund, reimbursement or compensation policy, and LTA does not guarantee or assume responsibility for third-party ticketing systems to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Donations

LTA is seeking status as a non-profit society and is not a registered charity. Donations are not eligible for charitable donation tax receipts and are not represented as eligible for Alberta political contribution tax credits.

Donation processing may involve third-party platforms and payment providers. Their terms, privacy practices and transaction conditions may apply. LTA does not guarantee processing, cancellation, return or any tax treatment beyond the express disclosures in these Terms. These Terms do not create a refund, donation-return or reimbursement obligation except where required by applicable law or separately agreed in writing.

Volunteering

Submitting volunteer information expresses interest only. It does not guarantee selection, placement, assignment, hours, compensation, participation, access to an event, continued volunteer status or a response. Volunteer signup does not by itself create an employment relationship. Subject to applicable law, LTA may determine volunteer opportunities and participation based on organizational needs.

Email and Electronic Communications

You may voluntarily provide contact information to receive organizational updates, event information, opportunities to participate or other communications. Where Canadian anti-spam requirements apply, communications are subject to applicable consent, identification and unsubscribe requirements. You may withdraw applicable consent or unsubscribe through the mechanism provided in the relevant communication.

Third-Party Services and Links

The website may use or link to independent third-party services, including NationBuilder, ticketing and payment providers, social media platforms, hosting or infrastructure providers, and external websites or resources. These services may have their own terms, privacy policies, availability, security practices and technical requirements.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, LTA does not control and assumes no responsibility for third-party availability, outages, content, accuracy, security, transactions, policies, acts or omissions, data handling or technical failures. Your dealings with third parties are between you and the applicable third party. A link or integration does not by itself constitute endorsement.

Informational Content and No Professional Advice

Website content is provided for general informational and educational purposes. It is not intended as legal, financial, investment, tax, accounting or other professional advice. You remain responsible for evaluating information and obtaining appropriate professional advice where necessary.

Accuracy and Changes to Information

Although reasonable efforts may be made to provide useful information, LTA does not warrant that all website content is complete, current, error-free, continuously updated or suitable for every purpose. Information may be corrected, changed, updated or removed at LTA’s discretion without creating an obligation to do so or to provide individual notice, except where required by applicable law.

Website Availability

The website and its functionality may occasionally be unavailable. LTA does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, permanent availability, compatibility with every device or browser, or the absence of technical failures. Subject to applicable law, LTA reserves the right to modify, restrict, suspend, discontinue, replace or remove website content or functionality without an obligation to maintain any particular feature indefinitely.

Cybersecurity and Internet Risks

Internet-based services involve inherent technical and security risks. LTA does not guarantee absolute security or that the website will be free from every harmful element, vulnerability or unauthorized act. Nothing in these Terms limits any obligation concerning personal information or security that LTA cannot lawfully exclude. You are responsible for taking reasonable security precautions on your own devices and accounts.

Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without representations, conditions or warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including warranties or conditions of accuracy, completeness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, condition, statutory right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LTA and its directors, officers, volunteers, representatives, contractors and agents will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or other loss or damage arising from or relating to website use or inability to use the website; reliance on website information; technical interruptions; events or registrations; external links; third-party platforms or content; or user submissions, whether the claim arises in contract, tort, negligence, statute or otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, statutory protections or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable Alberta or Canadian law.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless LTA and its directors, officers, volunteers, representatives, contractors and agents from claims, liabilities, losses and reasonable costs arising directly from your unlawful use of the website, material breach of these Terms, violation of a third party’s rights, or knowingly fraudulent or malicious submission. This provision does not apply to matters unrelated to your conduct or where prohibited by applicable law.

No Endorsement

The appearance of speakers, participants, organizations, sponsors, contributors, external resources, viewpoints or links does not necessarily constitute LTA’s endorsement of every statement, position, product, service, organization or activity associated with them. Participation in an LTA event does not necessarily mean that a participant endorses LTA or every other participant.

Circumstances Beyond LTA's Control

To the extent permitted by applicable law, LTA is not responsible for delays, interruptions, changes or an inability to provide website functionality or organizational activities caused by circumstances reasonably beyond its control. This provision does not exclude obligations that cannot legally be excluded.

Privacy

The handling of personal information through the website and associated services is addressed separately in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

LTA may update these Terms periodically. The “Last updated” date shows when this version was most recently revised. Material updates may be reflected through an updated version or date, or through other notice where appropriate or legally required. Individual notice is not promised unless required by applicable law. Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent enforceable under applicable law.

Severability

If a provision of these Terms is found invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or severed only to the extent necessary, where legally appropriate, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

No Waiver

A failure or delay by LTA in enforcing a provision on one occasion does not necessarily waive any legally available right to enforce that provision later. No waiver creates rights beyond those available under applicable law.

Entire Agreement and Other Applicable Terms

These Terms govern general website use. Specific transactions, events, registrations, donations, third-party services or separately agreed arrangements may also be subject to additional terms. These Terms do not override valid terms of a third-party service or a separately executed agreement that applies to a particular transaction or arrangement.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without giving effect to conflict-of-laws principles, subject to any mandatory laws, statutory rights or legally required forum that applies. To the extent permitted by applicable law, proceedings relating to these Terms or the website are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.
