Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 18, 2026

Let’s Talk Alberta (“LTA”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is seeking status as a non-profit society. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information may be collected, used, disclosed and otherwise handled in connection with LTA’s website and associated services.

Scope

This Policy applies to personal information handled by LTA through the website and associated LTA activities and services. Independent third-party websites and services may operate under their own privacy policies and practices.

Information You Provide

Depending on how you interact with LTA, you may voluntarily provide information such as your first and last name, email address, phone or mobile number, communication preferences, volunteer interests, event-related information, contact messages, donation-related information, and other information you choose to include in a form or communication. Not every category is collected from every person.

Information Collected Through Website Use

The website or the infrastructure supporting it may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver, operate and secure the website. Depending on the circumstances, this may include an IP address, browser or device information, request and diagnostic information, and pages or resources accessed.

How Information May Be Used

Depending on the interaction, personal information may be used to:

  • respond to inquiries and messages;
  • administer community signups and manage volunteer interest;
  • provide event-related functionality;
  • process or administer donations through applicable services;
  • send communications that a person has requested or consented to receive;
  • operate, maintain and secure the website and associated systems;
  • maintain appropriate organizational records; and
  • comply with applicable legal requirements.

This list describes possible operational purposes and does not mean that every purpose applies to every interaction or item of information.

NationBuilder

LTA uses NationBuilder for operational functionality that includes community and volunteer signup, contact and relationship-management functions, communications, events and donations. Information submitted through NationBuilder-hosted LTA pages is processed using that platform. NationBuilder maintains its own terms, privacy practices and technical systems, which LTA does not control or guarantee.

Donations and Payment Information

Donation transactions may involve NationBuilder and an applicable third-party payment-processing service. Full payment-card information is generally handled by the applicable payment-processing service rather than through the primary LTA website. Information connected with a transaction may be handled under the terms and privacy practices of the services involved. LTA does not control or guarantee independent third-party payment infrastructure.

Event Registration and Ticketing

Some event registrations or ticket purchases may be completed through independent third-party services. Information submitted directly to those services is also subject to their privacy practices. To the extent permitted by applicable law, LTA does not control or assume responsibility for the independent privacy practices of those providers.

Communications

You may voluntarily provide contact information to receive organizational updates, newsletters, event information, opportunities to participate or related LTA communications. You may withdraw applicable consent or unsubscribe using the mechanism provided in the relevant communication. An unsubscribe request may not affect operational or transactional messages that remain appropriate or legally permitted in connection with an action you have taken.

Consent and Choices

Where consent is required, LTA may rely on consent appropriate to the circumstances and the identified purpose. You may withdraw consent where applicable, subject to legal requirements and reasonable operational restrictions. Withdrawing consent may affect LTA’s ability to provide functionality or communications that depend on the relevant information.

Disclosure and Service Providers

Personal information may be made available to service providers where reasonably necessary to operate relevant services. Depending on the interaction, these may include website infrastructure, NationBuilder, communication systems, event or ticketing services, payment processing, and technical service providers. Such providers may handle information under their own terms, privacy practices and legal obligations.

Sale of Personal Information

This Policy does not describe personal-information sales or advertising-data practices as part of LTA’s confirmed current website operations. Any future practice involving materially different uses or disclosures would require appropriate review and updates to privacy information, notice or consent where required by applicable law.

Service Providers Outside Canada

Some service providers may process or store personal information outside Alberta or Canada. Information handled in another jurisdiction may be subject to the laws applicable in that jurisdiction, including lawful access by courts, law-enforcement bodies or other authorities.

Retention

How long information is retained may depend on the purpose for which it was collected, organizational and operational requirements, recordkeeping needs, applicable legal requirements, and relevant dispute, security or compliance considerations. When information is no longer reasonably required, it may be deleted, anonymized or otherwise handled, subject to applicable requirements and technical or operational limitations. No fixed retention period or immediate deletion is promised by this Policy.

Security

Reasonable administrative, technical or organizational safeguards may be used as appropriate to the information and circumstances. No internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Nothing in this Policy limits an obligation concerning personal information or security that cannot legally be excluded.

Access and Correction

You may contact LTA regarding access to or correction of personal information held about you. Requests are subject to applicable law, and this Policy does not create access or correction rights broader than those provided by applicable law.

Deletion Requests

Requests concerning deletion or removal may be considered subject to applicable law, legitimate retention and recordkeeping requirements, technical limitations, and information that LTA is permitted or required to retain. This Policy does not promise an unconditional right to deletion or immediate deletion.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The website and its supporting services may use cookies, local storage or similar technical mechanisms where needed for core functionality, preferences, security or reliable operation. The website does not currently present specific analytics, advertising pixels, behavioural advertising or advertising-cookie practices as confirmed active practices in this Policy.

If LTA introduces analytics, measurement or other materially different technologies in the future, the relevant privacy information and any notice or consent mechanism may be updated where appropriate or required by applicable law.

External Links

The website may link to external websites and services. Those third parties maintain their own privacy practices, terms and systems. LTA does not control independent third-party websites and, to the extent permitted by applicable law, does not assume responsibility for their privacy practices. Nothing in this section excludes an obligation that cannot legally be excluded.

Children's Privacy

The website is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed to children. LTA cannot guarantee that it will never receive information concerning a minor. If LTA becomes aware of information requiring special handling under applicable law, it may take appropriate steps as required in the circumstances.

Legal Disclosures

Personal information may be disclosed where required or permitted by applicable law or legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect legal rights, safety or security, subject to applicable law.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

LTA may update this Policy periodically. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Where an update requires additional notice or consent under applicable law, LTA may provide that notice or seek that consent as appropriate. Continued website use is not treated by this Policy as automatic consent to a new practice where fresh consent is legally required.

Contact and Privacy Questions

If you have questions or requests concerning this Privacy Policy or personal information, please reach LTA through the official Contact page.

Applicable Rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, individuals may have rights regarding personal information held about them, including rights relating to access or correction. The availability and scope of any right depend on the applicable law and circumstances.

General conditions governing use of the website are addressed separately in the Terms of Use.
